What Causes Low WBC And Platelet Count?

default
Posted on Tue, 27 Oct 2015
Question: Hi,

For a few years I've been experiencing a strange taste in my mouth and a white tongue. My dentist couldnt find a problem so I started doing some other tests. Recently I got an independent blood test and the results alarmed me a bit but I dont really know what they mean. Is it possible you could take a look at them for me please and offer some advice? White blood cells, neutrophils and platelets looks low. My calcium looks high, as does my iron. Other symptoms, I do notice I sweat quite a lot, sometimes during the night or sometimes if I go for a walk in to town. I often feel really tired during the day even after a great nights sleep aswell.

I'm in the UK so not sure if the tests results are in different measurements where you are but heres the links to my blood test results anyway. I also did a stool test recently and it showed I was very low on the good bacteria so something somewhere is going wrong in my body!

Thanks so much.

Brief Answer:
You may have some viral infection.

Detailed Answer:
Hi, dear
I have gone through your question. I can understand your concern.
I have gone through your all reports.

Ypur total count is low with low neutrophil count and low platelet count.
This types of features are commonly seen in viral infection.

Your bilirubin is also high but your liver function test is otherwise normal. Same way your kidney function test are also normal. So no need to worry about that.

Your iron level is high but in context of normal liver function test it is not a cause of worry.

Your vitamin D is slightly low and calcium is slightly high. You should take vitamin D supplements to correct that balance.

Your lipid profile and thyroid function test are also normal.

so overall nothing to worry much about your reports. Drink plenty of water and just repeat your complete blood count after 2 weeks. You should take vitamin D supplements. It is prescription based medicine so consult your doctor and take treatment accordingly.

Nothing to worry about slightly high calcium or iron. It will come back to normal within short time. Hope I have answered your question, if you have doubt then I will be happy to answer.
