                                            Question : Hello doctor,
I am 3 months pregnant now and 33 yrs old....one month back i could not sleep for 4 days because of some tragic event...and on 5th day morning my i was feeling shaky so i test my sugar and it was 20..i am not a diabetic and my sugar level remains in range otherwise.
Secondly someone told me to have alprax 0.5 for two days....but later on i found oout on net that alprax is not safe in first 3 months...
I had my 3rd month scan just now ..it came normal...NT and NS were 1.3 mm
My double marker result is 1:540 and free beta hcg was 3 mom...three year bk wen i was pregnant with my son ...the result of double marker was 1:10000 and free beta hcg was 1.01 mom... My questions are
can such low sugar level could have harmed the baby?
I had alprax 0.5 for two days...could it had harmed the baby?
Why my double marker test ratio has declined so much? Why my beta hcg is high this time ..does that mean any defect in baby?
I am very stressed out thinking that baby could hv acquired any defect because of the above mentioned things...should i go for abortion

                                    Brief Answer:
Risk assessment required
Detailed Answer:
Hi,
I understand your concerns.
Test reports seem to be normal. There is nothing to panic about.
Alprax for couple of days and low sugar would not have affected your baby.
Your sonologist will give You risk assessment combining beta hCG, ultrasound scan reports which will predict the risk assessment better.
Based on these reports, everything looks normal.
Let me know If You need anymore help.

..thanks....I have the combined report of ultrasound and blood test like free beta hcg and papp...that combined result is 1:540 for down syndrome...it is written as low risk on report ...my question was 3 years back when i was pregnant this ratio was 1:10000... This number has decline from 10000 to 540 in this pregnancy...wats the cause of this decline??
One more thing i wanted to ask was wen i went for the ususal routine test after knowing i was pregnant ...then this test vericella igm came positive as 14.2 (normal range is from 2 to 12) ..why this was positive as i was not having any rash or fever or any other symptom...and again can this positive test have any harm on baby...

                                    Brief Answer:
CVS is next option
Detailed Answer:
HI,
This increased risk is not related to varicella, low sugar or anything else. It is decided by age, genetic combinations in fetus.
If you are worried, get CVS test done ( chorionic villus biopsy) which predicts the risk perfectly.
Regards
