What Causes Low Grade Fever, Chills And Dizziness In A Child?
Question: Hi,
My son who is 9 years old has had a low grade fever and chills that typically only comes on at night. He is asleep by 6:30 or 7 pm every night when he typically is up late. He complains of dizziness as well but during the day seems completely fine. His appetite is not what it used to be as well. He wakes up about an hour into his sleep drenched with sweat and his fever is down. I gave him tylenol once. These symptoms have been consistent for the past 6 days. Is this a virus or could it possibly be mono? Thank you!

Brief Answer:
Could be serious. Do not ignore.
Detailed Answer:
Thanks for asking on HealthcareMagic.
I have gone carefully through your query and understand your concerns. I would not be bothered about the sweating but would certainly be bothered about the low grade fever. It does not seem to be due to a virus like mono. Rather, tuberculosis is an important possible cause that needs to be ruled out. The overall description raises concerns and you should seek medical attention at the earliest. Please do not ignore it. Take him to a doctor without any further delay. He would be able to investigate and find out the cause.
Let me know if I could help further.
