What Causes Low Heart Rate While Suffering From Lyme Disease And MRSA?

default
Posted on Fri, 9 Jun 2017
Question: My brother-in-law is in the hospital due to a fall and weakness from Lyme disease, fibromyalgia, gout, dehydration, heart rate of 32-52 and, now hospital-acquired MRSA. Obviously a complex case. He is frustrated with the lack of information he receives from the hospital's cardiologist and hospitalists. The nurses provide little information. The social worker is providing what information she can about a possible discharge to rehab. What do you advise about how to coordinate care in such a setting?

Brief Answer:
Would be helpful if you can share investigation & treatment reports

Detailed Answer:
Hello Dear. If you can share all the investigation reports and treatment reports it will be great. Will help me in analyzing whether appropriate treatment is given or not.

Since your brother in law has lyme's disease (which is infection due to ticks) and also MRSA infection he might be put on higher antibiotics like Vancomycin or sulfamethoxazole and trimethoprim [Bactrim], linezolid [Zyvox], or clindamycin [Cleocin T] etc.

For gout he may be given NSAIDS like paracetamol, brufen and then tablets lik allopurinol, febuxostat, cholchicine etc. Fibromyalgia is also treated with pain killers similar to gout.

Right now since he is having dehydration he may be put on IV fluids. Regarding low heart rate complete cardiac evaluation is neceaasry in the form of ECG, ECHO, TMT etc.

Hope i have answered your question. Feel free to contact me if you have any more questions. I ll be glad to help you.
All the best
With warm regards
