Question: I'm 59 years old have been told I have AFib, and I'm taking medicines for high blood presure and to keep my heart in cenk, I take Elizuis 5mg, Rythmol 225mg both twice a day, Zestril 5mg, Zebeta 5mg, Lasix 20mg, Aldactone 25mg, and Diltiazem 180 mg. 1 time a day. Today I noticed my heart rate was low, so I went to the local store to take my blood pressure, my blood presure was good but the machine said my pulse was low 45. Is this the medicines I'm taking or do you think I'm just panicing.

Detailed Answer:
Hello, and thanks for your question.

Bisoprolol (Zebeta) is a beta-blocker which can lower heart rate. This is actually an important part of treating Afib -- keeping the heart rate low with a beta-blocker prevents the heart from going into rapid Afib and creating clots which can lead to stroke. As long as you are not symptomatic from low heart rate (dizziness, loss of consciousness, headache, blurry vision), a low heart rate is a good thing and perfectly normal.
