Brief Answer:
Kindly visit a physician for the below mentioned investigations.

Detailed Answer:
Hello Sir,
Thanks for writing in to us at hcm.
This is Dr.Riyanka and I am glad to be helping you with your query.

Firstly normal hemoglobin range for females is around 12-15.5 gms/dl.Hence 13.1 gms/dl is ok.

Since your wife is 40years old the reasons for tiredness and breathlessness could be due to various reasons hence, kindly visit a physician/ cardiologist regarding certain tests like:

1. An ECG to rule out any cardiovascular problems that could cause tiredness and breathlessness. Lipid profile can be done to check blood cholesterol levels. If these tests are normal then nothing to worry. If theree is any abnormality , the physician/cardiologist may recommend further cardiovascular investigations.

2. Hormone levels like thyroid profile test to check thyroid hormone levels as hormonal imbalances can cause tiredness.

3. Since she is approaching perimenopausal (few years before menopause) age it is important to know if her periods are normal. Perimenopausal period can involve tiredness, mood swings and disinterest due to fluctuating sex hormone levels.

Hence kindly consult a physician for these investigations to know the cause of her symptoms.

Also she should take nutritious diet rich in fruits and vegetables. Tell her to drink lots of water and take vitamin supplements along with a balanced diet.

Hope this answers your query. Don't worry .
Do write back if you have any further doubts.
