Confirmation of IBS is essential for further course of action.
Detailed Answer:
Dear XXXXXXX
Thanks for your follow up query and detailed case history.
A. Though the possibility of IBS is suspected, you need to undergo a proper clinical examination by a Gastroenterologist for confirmation of the diagnosis. Certain investigations like upper GI endoscopy, colonoscopy and biopsy of the intestinal mucosa will be helpful in clinching the diagnosis.
B. Once the diagnosis of IBS is confirmed, the treatment modality will change altogether. Rabeprazole alone would not be of any help.
C. Considering that you had a history of Hypertension and Hypothyroidism, presence of borderline BUN and creatinine can be attributed to that. Please get these investigations repeated and maintain a good control of your BP & Thyroid levels.
D. In addition you need to follow certain diet and lifestyle measures such as:
1. Take soft, plain, non-spicy foods
2. Drink lots of water to maintain adequate hydration
3. Avoid fast foods & gas producing food products like cabbage, etc.
4. Avoid smoking & alcohol
5. Keep away stress, think positive.
6. Exercise regularly & practice meditation.
There is no need to worry, you will be fine.
Wishing you a good health.
Take care.
