What Causes Low Platelet Count In A Diabetic Patient?

Question: in the last 2 years diagnosed with T 2 Diab, high BP that was controlled then spiked, Right sided HF w/ normal LV fx. My Platelets historicall run low. Why ???
Stage 3 CKD as well all in last year. My GFR is all over the place

Hello,

most causes of low platelet count don't seem to apply to you, so I believe that the most likely one is your drugs. Some drugs like aspirin or mirtazapine may cause thrombocytopenia. You haven't mentioned other conditions like heavy alcohol use, bleeding problems or any other clinical sign of a low platelet count, so there is no real problem particularly at this level (120000).
Some individuals may have low counts without any identifiable reason. If the count is not so low (like in your case) it can be ignored.
The low count should be confirmed with microscopic examination of peripheral blood because the automated analyzers cannot be very accurate at times.
