Question : a month ago I had a colonoscopy and a stomach scope.
There was nothing found in the colon although the radiologist found a tortous colon that took her 40+ mins to inspect. She didn't get to the small intestine. She is having me get a catscan to inspect the small instestine on Monday. She did take biopsies from the stomach. she told me these came back negative and has put me on Sandoz rabeprazole tabs - 2 per day and warned me that unless I changed my life style which included alcohol I'd be faced with serious stomach problems later. I've given up the wine. However since the colonoscopy my colon is often sore, particularly on lower left side - this has been like that for over a year and I'd get relief after a bowel movements. Now I'm having problems on the right lower side. I have difficulty clearing my bowel. I now take Senokat laxative to help. My concern now after hearing recently about symptoms for ovarian cancer that the pains I'm feeling on both lower sides is resulting from build up of waste in my colon pressing on the ovaries - could this be a possibility? I am often bloated I have started to have minor vaginal infections in the last six months. I'm now also wanting to urinate often.

Thank you . That helped

Brief Answer:
Gastric discomfort.

Detailed Answer:
Thank you for asking

I read your question and i understand your concern. Alcohol is a pandora's box, Your gastric discomforts and soreness all can be attributed to it alone not to speak of other diet and lifestyle perversions. Good news is all your work up including biopsies is normal and only thing left is functional issues like gastroparesis, gastritis and constipation. All of these can be easily managed with diet and lifestyle modifications, more fluids intake at least 2.5 L a day, more fiber intake, avoiding spices, alcohol, beverages, soda, processed and canned foods, chocolates and other confectionaries, sauces and smoking etc. Delaying lying down after a meal for at least 2 hours til the stomach empties. Take laxative for constipation on need basis, however above mentioned lifestyle adjustments alone will sort it out. Bloating etc will need gastric motility enhancing medications available over the counter like metoclopramide etc.

As far as lower abdomen pain and ovarian cancer worries are concerned, i want yo to know that its not connected. You should stop worrying for that. This lower abdomen pain started due to your bowel symptoms alone and no matter how hard ovaries get pressed by abdomen, they dont get cancer like this.

I hope it helps. Take good care of yourself and don't forget to close the discussion please.

Khan
