What Causes Lower Abdominal Pain Post An Ileostomy?

Question: I am a 68 year old female. I had abdominal surgery and an ileostomy in February this year. This morning I woke up with moderate pain and discomfort in my lower right abdomen radiating to my back. It has made me nauseous. I have taken a prescription for nausea so that is getting better. The discomfort has improved as well.
Brief Answer:
Urinary tract issue is the most probable reason.
Detailed Answer:
Hello!
Thank you for the query.
Such pain is rather caused by urinary tract and does not seem to be associated with the surgery you have had. Kidney stone or urinary tract infection can give such symptom. Frequent urinating or burning while urinating can be present as well.
I suggest you to consult your doctor. Blood work and urine analysis should be done at first. Abdominal ultrasound is necessary as well.
Hope this helps.
Regards.
