What Causes Lower Abdominal Pain When Recovering From Typhoid?

default
Posted on Fri, 26 Jun 2015
Question: My typhoid treatment is over. I was recovering but today felt something very strange. I am feeling pain in my lower abdomen in the right side, soles of my feet are feeling very hard, pale and there is a burning sensation.
Also, I was taking a cat nap at noon and found that I was unable to go into a good sleep. As soon as my body and brain seemed to go into sleep I felt a sudden ringing from inside which wakes me up and my breathing increased as if I would go out of breath. This happened two or three times. Finally I had to quit my nap and get up.

pin worms in Nov 2014, viral fever and stomach infection in Feb 2015, Typhoid in May 2015. Before that I used to be as good as a soldier. Have no idea what has happened suddenly. Don't understand why am I suffering with some or the problem. I am preparing for UPSC exam and have to devote long hours to study. But due to recurring health problems I am unable to study as hard as required. Feel exhausted even after 2 hours of study. Please suggest something. I am really worried. I told my parents to get an abdominal scan done but they are acting ignorant and unconcerned. Feeling terrible.

Brief Answer:
Ultrasound abdomen is needed.

Detailed Answer:
Hi XXXXXXX

I understand your concern.

You need be overstressed at this moment.

Sleep disturbances can be a sequel for recent acute infections.

All you need right now is a good ultrasound abdomen to document any residual typhoid infecting liver or spleen.

Apart from this a complete Blood picture with ESR and Platelet count is needed.

A short course of tab Clonazepam 0.5 mg is needed for 3 months under expert medical supervision.

This drug is known to allay anxiety and stress related to recurrent infections as well as improve sleep pattern.

Further management depends on the test results.

Post your further queries if any.
Thank you.
