Question : Dr Mintz,
I am a 64 yr old male, 6'3"227 lbs, athletic (tennis) with type 2diabetes. I had a heart XXXXXXX (2) stents on Tues 8/16. I am experiencing some medium to heavy lower back pain for the last 36 hrs.

Hi and thank you for asking!
I read your query and understood your concerns.

Unless you have lumbar spine spondylitis your symptoms are related to cardiac catheterisation.

During the heart catheterisation the patients should stay on a laying position for hours causing back pain. The pain will persist a couple of days (2-6 days).

If you were my patient I would recommend to use advil and deep relief cream to relieve the pain.

If the symptoms will persist then you should do a lumbar spine x-ray to exclude spondylitis.
