Question : Hi, I am recouping from stomach flu but now have lateral lower back pain. When I bend over it is almost a stabbing pain but once upright it's not so bad. It is not constant, mostly at night, and early morning. Also it is more consintrated on my left side at hip level. Thx.

Hi and thank you for asking on HCM!
I wish you a Happy New Year.
You are reporting to be recovering after stomach flu. Your recent symptoms are lateral lower back pain that changes with position of the body.
To my opinion your symptoms may be related with :
- muscular pain due to viral infection
- postural disorders or rheumatological disorders.
This is why to my opinion you need to do and X-ray of spinal cord to better evaluate bone issues.
Meantime you can use pain killers and physiotherapy to improve your symptoms.
Hope it was helpful to you.

Thank you for the advice. The only medication I am on is Benicar for recent high blood pressure. What is the best pain reliever to take? Thanks again.
