What Causes Lower Left Abdominal Pain And Golden Yellow Stool?
Question: Good evening
I have a personal question. What do these symptoms imply. for past 2 days tremendous gas pains on left side (directly at descending colon and under left anterior side of lowest ribs) of abd accompanied with pain just under lowest left posterier side of ribs, and the stool is golden yellow and unbelievably pasty. Stool is odd foul smell, not normal odor of stool. But stool has been this way for a 3-4 Weeks. I can't find this on internet.

To recapitulate: Noted your history in detail - Female/68 - gas pain 2 days left side as you have explained - golden yellow and pasty stool - 3-4 weeks altered stool odor and color -
The most probable cause of such an occurrence is colitis which was minimal and increased since 2 days to give further symptoms.
I would advise you the following:
Get the stool tested for 3 consecutive days.
Routine tests of blood and urine.
Ultrasonography of the abdomen.
X-ray of the abdomen in standing position.
A course of an antibiotic, metronidazole, probiotic.
Stop the foods and beverages that increase your problems (if noted so).
If there is relief well and good.
If no relief, please go for further management:
Clinical evaluation and examination, preferably by a General Surgeon or Gastroenterologist.
Colonoscopy.
CT scan of the abdomen.
All this to get the most appropriate diagnosis and further management as per the findings.
