Question : sir, I am having a lump(about 3 cm diameter) on my rear (buttock) since about 15-16 years . It is not creating any problem but when it is pressed hard there is a little pain. I have consulted a Local Doctor(Professor of Medicine & Oncology) and he said that it may be a sebaceous cyst. I asked him whether it may be a cancer or not then he replied that it is not a cancer and there is no chance that this will be converted into cancer in future but he advised me to remove it as per my convenience because it may be infected in future and then I have ti remove it surgically . He advised me to do FNAC test. I have not done the FNAC test till now. I am very much worried about it now that can it be cancer ? If the doctor told me that it is not a cancer then why did he recommended for FNAC test ??? This thing is making me feared. Is it really necessary to do FNAC test ??? Can cancer be there for such a long period ? Can the lump be left as it is now without any treatment ??? Please help me sir. I am a male of 34.

Brief Answer:
Be away from Cancer-phobia.

Detailed Answer:
Hi.
Thanks for your query.

To recapitulate: and explain on the way.
Male/34 - lump about 3 cm in diameter -15-16 years
Means since the age of 16 years. It is practically impossible to have any cancer stay so long without any problems (16 years is a very long time)

- no problem except little "pain hard pressure" - It is already on a buttock, yet never caused pain or increased in phenomenal size.

Consulted Professor of Medicine and Oncology:
Please consult a General Surgeon, to have perfect clinical diagnosis.

Many tumors like Sebaceous cyst or lipomas are never reported to get transformed into a Cancer. NEVER reported or heard or experienced. You have to believe me.

The basic principle I like the most:
Anything which is not a normal part of the body should be removed for 2 reasons:
1. You get rid of the disease.
2 . You get a confirmed (final) histopathological diagnosis and sleep comfortably, meaning become stress and anxiety free.
I hope you would agree with me.

Now your Questions:
- I have not done the FNAC test till now. I am very much worried about it now that can it be cancer ?
> Not doing FNAC tell me hoe much the fear or a phobia you have.

-If the doctor told me that it is not a cancer then why did he recommended for FNAC test ??? This thing is making me feared.
> This is a routine test done in almost all the tumors as a routine; this is not a special investigations, so why fear?

-Is it really necessary to do FNAC test ???
> May not be in the lump as you have described that you have. Your General Surgeon may not be willing to do this if he is certain about his clinical diagnosis. He would go for excision straight forward.

-Can cancer be there for such a long period ?
> NEVER Heard / seen / not reported also.

-Can the lump be left as it is now without any treatment ???
> Certainly yes, anyways you have been keeping it for the last 16 years or so.

I hope every point is clear to you.
Yet, please feel free to ask for any further relevant queries if you need to or if you feel that there is a gap of communication.

Brief Answer:
no, It will never turn into cancer if it is something like a Sebaceous cysp

Detailed Answer:
You are most welcome.

Although it is not cancer at the moment, it can not be cancer in future if you leave it without any treatment.

This is not heard of , or seen so till now or not documented in available medical literature.

So nothing to worry, Carry on the life and enjoy as before and be happy. Get the surgery done only if your mind goes with it.

You may please rate this answer before closure of the discussion and can certainly contact me on the bellow link in future, whenever you may need me.
