Question : I have a lump at the bottom of my sternum. It is somewhat painful, but not overly. I have deliberately lost about 25 pounds and have recently been using 2-3 pound hand weights. The protrusion has just occurred within the last few days.
Brief Answer:
could be epigastric hernia
Detailed Answer:
Hi,
Welcome to HealthcareMagic.
That lump, if it has appeared as a result of your excersises for weight loss, could be epigastric hernia.
You need to show it to a surgeon for a clinical evaluation as that will be diagnostic for the condition and if confirmed as hernia, it will need surgical repair.
Till then avoid lifting weights and push ups and crunches or anything that increases intraabdominal pressure.
Hope i have been helpful.
