Brief Answer:
sac that collects fluid

Detailed Answer:
Hi, thanks for using healthcare magic

A cyst is essentially a sac that can occur in any aspect of the body.

This sac structure may remain empty but more common collects fluid. As a cyst collects it may sometimes become increasingly uncomfortable.

The fluid can also become infected.

Cysts can occur anywhere on the body. They can be found externally (on the skin) or present on internal structures such as the liver, kidneys, ovaries, spleen, breasts

Cysts are most common benign (not cancerous) but rarely they can be malignant.

When your doctor removes the cyst, he or she may seen a sample of the cyst wall or the fluid to the lab for analysis if it appears suspicious.

The lab would be able to determine if it is benign (most commonly) or malignant.

Summary: (1) a cyst is a sac that collects fluid
(2)usually benign
(3)can cause discomfort or become infected

I hope this helps, feel free to ask any other questions
