Question : hi im 47 years old ,fit I'm 6'2' tall and weigh 79 kg I've just recently changed my diet (low carb no sugar, high protein and vegetables) . its during this transition from old diet to new that I've noticed a lump form in my lower right side when i lay down. it goes away and then comes back. it does not seem to have symptoms that would suggest its a hernia( I've had a doctor check me out for this) or though i do feel a bit constipated and there is no pain
Brief Answer:
If it is hernia, then dilated cecum as a most probable
Detailed Answer:
Hi.
Thanks for your query.
Noted your history of change in diet habits and your noticing reducing and increasing swelling in the right lower abdomen.
It is good that hernia has been ruled out.
The commonest cause of such a swelling may be ballooning of the initial part of the large bowel called a cecum, which always bear the brunt of such changes.
This will be always visible on lying down position. This being inflatable is felt the way it is being by you.
This area is usually painless.
I hope it gets adjusted to the new diet.
I hope this answers your query.
