Brief Answer:
Most probably lipomas

Detailed Answer:
Hi.
Thanks for your query, an elucidate history and picture.

The most probable reason for appearance of many lumps on the sites you mentioned namely hands, thigh and back is lipomas.
They do not cause any pain unless pressed hard.
The sites you mentioned are the most preferred ones only for lipoms.

How to investigate further:
A Surgeon on palpation can clinically tell whether these are lipomas or something else, and most of them become so certain about the diagnosis that they would not advise you any investigations at all.
I too may sometimes do the same, as the impression on palpation is so sure about it, its feel, easy mobility under the skin, smooth surface etc.

If your Surgeon is in doubt or if you want to be certain the best and the simplest way is to get high resolution ultrasonography and FNAC (fine needle aspiration cytology) of the lumps for a confirmation.

The rules for removal of such lump/s are:
-If on joint
-If on pressure points
-If there is a sudden increase in pain, size, redness
-If the appearance is making the limb to look odd - aesthetic reason.
-If causing any pain to the underlying structures like the muscles or so.

I hope this answer helps you, please feel free to ask further relevant questions if you need to ...
