What Causes Lumpy Bleeding Post Insertion Of Zitotect?

default
Posted on Mon, 26 May 2014
Question: Hi Doc,

Hope you remember me. You answered my questions during last month when I was detected with high TSH levels in blood that led to the termination of my pregnancy

Four days past when the bleeding started, I visited my gynec

She prescribed the following:
Tab zitotec 200 - 2 tabs 2 nights
Tab Mahacef 200 - 2 tabs for 5 days
tab onecan 150- once

Question 1: I had some lumpy bleeding post insertion of zitotect. I got another HCG blood test done and levels came down to 2.1. Would you suggest any further test for checking if it is cleared?

She said post 14 days i.e from 7th may as per her calculation, I should start the following course
Meprate 10 - thrice for 5 days
Ferose - 1 for 1 days

Question 2: Unfortunately, I started the course for Meprate and Ferose as soon as I was done with the Mahacef course. I somehow forgot she asked to start this later
Is this an issue?
I called my doctor and she asked to complete the course. She said what will happen is I will get my periods earlier.
Could you please explain to me if I would have harmed anything because of this negligence:(

Looking forward to your guidance

Also, post my next period, the doctor said I will have to take the torch test and some external tests (to check if no blockage in tubes) too to ensure there is no other issue
Also, she said she would need 6 months to get my TSH levels in control and until then we should not do any planning

all is fine...

Detailed Answer:
Hello XXXXXXX

Yes, I do remember you and the earlier discussions that we had. I hope you are doing better now.

To answer your queries:

Question 1: I had some lumpy bleeding post insertion of zitotect. I got another HCG blood test done and levels came down to 2.1. Would you suggest any further test for checking if it is cleared?

answer: The HCG level has returned back to non-pregnant state. So, no further testing for this is required. However, I would suggest a check ultrasound scan after a week to 10 days, after the abortion process. This is to make sure that there are no retained products of conception within your uterus.

Question 2: Unfortunately, I started the course for Meprate and Ferose as soon as I was done with the Mahacef course. I somehow forgot she asked to start this later
Is this an issue?

answer: No, this is not an issue at all. Like your doctor told, you would get your periods earlier. You have not done any harm by taking it early. So, please relax.

Yes, your doctor is right. I agree with her. You must wait for at least 6 months until your thyroid levels are normal to conceive. It is going to be good both for the baby and for you.

I wish you good health and good luck. Do not miss to take your thyroid medicine.

Take care!

Thanks Doc. I have travelled abroad for work for a month

I will be back only by XXXXXXX 1st
Since my doc did not insist on the check USG, I haven't got it done.

Can I get it done post my return?

Brief Answer:
it would be too late then

Detailed Answer:
Hello XXXXXXX

If you cannot get the scan done now, it is fine. Getting a scan done after your return on XXXXXXX 1st would be too late. Also, it would not solve the purpose of our scan.

For now, do nothing. Just wait and watch. Once you stop bleeding completely, it is mostly taken that your abortion process is complete.

If need be, we can do the scan on your return.

Wish you safe stay and return journey.

Take care!
