Hi! It is a very sensitive problem and needs proper work up by a neurologist because seizures can cause hypoxic brain injuries or other damages. Please visit him soon and meanwhile keep on using medicines for seizures.

seizures leading to memory decline

Detailed Answer:
Hi!

Welcome to health care magic!

I am Dr. Saddiq Ul Abidin. I have read your problem in detail and will try to help you in best way possible.

First of all , sorry for a delayed reply, I was busy in few of my clinical commitments.

It is sad to know, what you had to suffer, lately. Your issue needs a lot of considerations and clarifications.

A detailed history would be welcomed. Because, all these things would help to devise a better management plan.

It would be appreciable if you share what kind of seizures were those? Was you diagnosed as having epilepsy? What drugs were you on, for 20 years? What was frequency and duration of those seizures? Do you recall any such incidence when you had to undergo prolong seizures lasting for more than few minutes?

Because relevance of all those things would specify whether any seizure lead to decreased oxygen to brain n caused some damage or is that a side effect of some drug you had been onto.

If you visit a neurologist, you might be asked to undergo, brain imaging like CT scan or MRI. That will rule out many causative conditions.

An EEG can also be required to see the brain electrical activity.

Some blood tests like B12 levels and thiamine levels can be requested apart from some baseline labs.

You can start using B12, folic acid, D3 and B complex supplements. Other neurotonics have been shown to be of little benefit.

I would urge you to schedule a meeting with a neurologist and discus all these issues in detail.

Hope this has answered your query, if you have any more questions, feel free to ask. kindly rate me generously before closing, and leave your feedback if possible.

Regards,
Dr. Saddiq Ul abidin.
