Posted on Tue, 25 Oct 2016
Question: i have medullary sponge kidney and usually have a dipstick that reads 2+ rbcs and urine microscopy 0 rbcs. Today i got results that said dipstick 2+ rbcs and 6-10 microscope. I am concerned and wondering why this would take place. I have been doing a huge amount of lifting lately and had a case of mild shingles. Wondering if any of these could have affected this?

As mention below

Detailed Answer:
Hello dear
Welcome to HCM and thanks for query
I understand your concern

Blood in the urine could be due to huge amount of the lifting.
Huge amount to lifting associated with lack of sufficient fluids, trauma to the bladder, or the breakdown of red blood cells and produce microscopic hematuria.
It will disappear in the 5-7 days.
Medullary sponge kidney increase the risk of the urinary tract infection and kidney stone.
If problem will not resolves in 1 week then go for urine culture and USG scan to rule out UTI and stone.
Drink plenty of fluids and juice of cranberry, orange and pineapple.
Avoid exertion.

Hope I have answered your query
