What Causes Migraine Headache Post Consumption Of Alcohol?

Question: Hi,
I think I may be having a bad reaction to beer.
I always head out Friday night after work for a few beers (1-6 pints is the range).

It doesn't matter whether it's 1 pint or 6 , I always wake up the next morning with a migraine headache that prevents me from
Doing anything. At all. It's that bad that all I can literally do is reach over to grab 2 neurofen tablets and go back to sleep hoping that when I wake it's gone.

Just recently I have tested it twice. Once I just drank whiskey and Coke all night and the other , I had pizza, 3 stubbies of beer then about 10 whiskey and cokes and both mornings I woke up with no headache , just the general wheezieness feeling after having a night of drinking.

Friday nights are the only nights I ever drink and I am 29 yo male.

Brief Answer:
Dehydration is the reason.

Detailed Answer:
Hello!

Thank you for the query.

Headache after a beer is usually caused by nothing more than a dehydration. Please note that beer stimulates kidneys to produce urine. It causes that you urinate more than you drink. So the next day your brain (or blood vessels in the brain) indicate lack of liquids.

Next time you drink beer, before you go to sleep try to drink few glasses of mineral water (not tea, soda or soft drink). This should solve the problem.

Hope this helps. Feel free to ask further questions.
Regards.

Hi there , appreciate your quick response!

I have been drinking alcohol for 10 years, since I was 18. But this feels different.

Why would one single beer produce a thumping migraine headache the next day ?
