What Causes Mild Pain And Lymph Node Swelling In Groin Area?
The doc did urine tests...all came back normal. They did blood tests, and we are awaiting the results.
I feel like something else could be done. Is a scenario like this not something to panic over?
The doc stated that sometimes they don't have a conclusive reason for the swelling other than infection in the body, and that they may not be able to tell us what the infection was or why he got it. Does that sound correct?

Detailed Answer:
Hi.
Thanks for your query.
Read and understood the history related to your son who is 24 years old.
Surely the lymph nodes in the groin is a thing of concern.
I would like to tell your some important points.
- If the horizontal group of inguinal nodes are involved the most common area of drainage is skin of genitourinary and perineal area and even the inadvertent scratching can be sufficient to cause enlargement.
- If the vertical group that is the one in the upper part of thigh is involved, the cause is usually in the lower limb like small wounds, scratches, or obvious infection.
Hence it is important to know which group is involved.
- Another reasons is a generalized problem as told by your Doctor. This can be due to generalized infection with or without constitutional symptoms.
Hence the important tests are:
- Ultrasonography and FNAC (fine needle aspiration cytology)
- Blood culture and sensitivity.
- Detailed history and clinical examination by a Doctor.
These three things usually give a diagnosis and a plan for proper treatment.
Rarely a Biopsy may be needed.
I hope this answer helps you to resolve the questions you have in your mind.
