Brief Answer:
Can be a muscle spasm.

Detailed Answer:
Hello,
Thanks for posting your query.
The mild pain on the side of the ribs is likely to be a mild muscular pain. An old injury or a muscular spasm can also cause such problem.
This can be relieved by a hot compress, applying local analgesic gel and a mild pain killer. Proper rest can help in healing the problem in 3-4 weeks. Not a worrisome issue.
I hope this answers your query.
