What Causes Missed Abortion After 10 Weeks Of Pregnancy?

Question: Hi, my wife had a miscarraige recently (after 10 weeks pregnant) from LMP. we're not completely sure what caused the problem, but our gynaecolgist said that the baby wasn't growing under the normal level (comparing the weeks when we did the scan after 9 weeks after little bleeding) and there were no heart beat formed. HCG levels were lower 13.5k during 9 weeks. unfortunately, we had been advised to stop further. :(

Few points.
1. My wife had little bleeding (brownish) for last 2 weeks, and heavily at the time of the 10th week. and severe abdominal pain.
2. my wife's blood group is B negative. do we need to take special care for this. mine is B positive.

Now it's tissues are fully cleaned after taking the medicine. (2 days before) and now my wife is facing thigh pains. is it normal?

Also, Please could you advice what we should not do to avoid the same problem when we plan for the next pregnancy. and advice the cause of the problem.

I read your query and I understand your concerns.

Following is my reply

1. The cause for missed abortion is generally chromosomal abnormalities. These are difficult to precisely define unless chromosomal analysis of aborted fetus is done to know the cause.

2. It is not necessary that this repeats next time. Hence I suggest let your wife be on folic acid medicines till next nezt pregnancy which prevents some causes.

3. She needs to take inj. Anti D from her gynecologist as her blood group is negative.

4. The cause of leg pain is not related to abortion. It might be due to position put during abortion. It will slowly vome down.

Thanks a lot XXXXXXX for your reply, few questions please;
1. regarding Folic acid medicines. any specific tablets? or we just need to ask folic acid medicine in the medicals.
2. The Anti D medicine, do we need to take it now or at the time of next pregnancy.
3. I meant the Thigh pain. hope it's the same answer, if not, please could you advice.
4. It seems the bleeding is still present, (she took the tablet to clear the tissues on Thursday (15th May), it came out on Sunday midday. and it's 22nd May now. so, is it normal?

Hi

1. Any brand of folic acid medicines will do.

2. Inj. Anti D needs to be taken now after abortion.

3. Thigh pain might go away slowly. Take rest.

4. If bleeding is still present she has to get an ultrasound examination done and see her gynecologist. If it is incomplete she may need D & C.

5. Ask her gynecologist to prescribe antibiotics as she is bleeding now.

thank you again for patient answers. just last ones please.

1.Could you tell us how long we need to wait for next baby?
2.We traveled few times in car for about 120 kms few times during the initial stages, could it also have caused an issue? Any other don't do during early pregnancy please so that we'll be cautious next time.

The travellibf is better avoided in initial part of pregnancy. But it alone cannot be attributed to abortion.

You can try for next pregnancy after 3 months of abortion.

There is nothing do or dont . See a doctor as soon as pregnancy is diagnosed.
