default
Posted on Tue, 13 Jun 2017
Question: From last two days, there has been a twitching in my right chest and its visible from my clothes. The twitching occurs intermittently and the vibrations are the only symptoms.
I do not feel any pain or inconvenience, just the vibrations are intense and creates anxiety.

Brief Answer:
What are the aggravating factors?

Detailed Answer:
Hi XXXXXXX
Thanks for being on healthcaremagic.com.
I am Dr.Ajay Panwar,a neurologist, here to answer your query.

Most common cause of fasciculations is 'Benign fasciculations'.
Benign fasciculations usually worsen with anxiety, stress, coffee or lack of sleep. These are normal and not a cause of worry.

Fasciculations when associated with limbs weakness or thinning, speech or swallowing difficulty, may indicate towards something serious like Motor neuron disease.

What are aggravating factors in your cases and are other symptoms as mentioned above, present?

I shall be glad to have you in follow up to answer this well.

Thank you Mr Panwar for your response,

I would like to confirm that the only symptom is muscle twitching or chest vibrations.

I recently started drinking coffee which I usually do not consume at all, so can it be the reason?

In your case, it appears to be 'Benign fasciculations'. Of course, you can stop drinking coffee and observe the response. This appears to be nothing worrisome.
