I am mildly constipated and that has caused a change in bowel habits. I have an appointment to address these issues. I will then have a colonostomy by the same doctor. I have had two lower hernias several years ago and prostate cancer 5 years ago. Radiation was used to stop prostate cancer with no removal of prostate. I had a colonostomy after that to see if any more cancer was present in that area and it was not.
Brief Answer:
Need investigations to know the condition of intestines
Detailed Answer:
Thanks for your feedback.
To recapitulate salient points:
Known case of Prostate cancer 5 years - treated by Radiotherapy - two lower hernias several years ago - Had colonostomy (I think you mean colonoscopy) - have an appointment and will then have colonostomy (colonoscopy?) - mildly constipated - caused change in bowel habits.
Your basic question was > what to do about narrow bowel.
Please let me elucidate:
First of all we to get a confirmed diagnosis for which Enteroclysis under fluoroscopy control for real-time visualization of the passage of he dye/Barium gives the best confirmatory diagnosis.
Another options which are commonly done are oral and intra-venous contrast enhanced CT scan of the whole abdomen including the prostate and anal region (covering all parts) This helps to know about additional factors of the status of prostate, lymph nodes, intestinal condition and many other factors.
You may please discuss this with your Doctor, get the investigations done to get the correct idea of intestinal conditions and if there is narrowing or so the treatment will depend upon the nature, site, size of the intestinal (small and large intestines) narrowing.
