Question: 31 year old single female with asthma

i noticed that recently, whenever I cry, i feel my throat is too narrow and i will just be gasping for air with strange sound coming out, i feel like suffocated and i cant stop it, it goes on for a while. I had a swelling on the Rt side of my neck which the dr told me is an extra muscle only. Brief Answer:
Yes

Detailed Answer:
Hi

I read your query and I understand your concerns.

Following is my reply

1. You seem to be suffering from upper respiratory tract inflammation secondary to asthma and continuing attacks and increasing inflammatory changes.

2. These changes lead to thickening of mucous membrane which leads to narrowing of airway temporarily and cause sound while breathing.

3. Upper part of GI inflammation lead to pain while swallowing food whenever inflammation is active.

4. This chronic inflammation along with asthma leads to swelling of lymph nodes and hence the swelling you have.

5. I suggest you see an ENT surgeon immediately who can check your throat and examine your lymph nodes.

6. ENT surgeon will give you antibiotics which will reduce the inflammation and the problems you mentioned.

Let me know if you have any more questions.
