Question : I have had the flu/bronchitis. Started 2 weeks ago . Was taking Doxycycline for 5 days and then switched to Azithromax. The day following my last Azithromax pill I got severe nausea. It eased in a few hours but I have continued to suffer severe nausea as each day wears on. By late afternoon it gets severe and seems to come in waves. This has been going on for 5 days now and is hardly bearable. Please help.

                                    Brief Answer:
mostly related to gastritis only.
Detailed Answer:
Hello dear, thanks for your question on HCM.
In my opinion you are having antibiotic associated gastritis.
This in turn can cause nausea.
Azithromycin is known to cause gastritis.
So I advice you to take azithromycin after some food and not on empty stomach.
Start antacids like proton pump inhibitor before the aantibiotic dose (30-40 minutes prior).
Drink plenty of fluids.
Avoid hot and spicy food.
Avoid large meals, instead take frequent small meals.
Avoid stress and anxiety.
No need to worry much. You will be alright.
Hope I have solved your query.
I will be happy to help you further.
Wish you good health.
Thanks.
