Brief Answer:
for a month or so more

Detailed Answer:
Hi,

Welcome again to HealthcareMagic.

Its common to have nausea, inability to burp and distended stomach after Nissan Fundoplucation surgery.

It usually takes a little long to subside an get used to it. Avoid foods that make you more nauseating like tea, coffee, areated drinks, spicy foods, etc.

Your stomach has been shortened as part of it was used in creating a cuff around the esophagus. So it will slowly dilate and increase in capacity. Its a time taking process.

Also you may take any gastrokinetic drugs like levosulpiride in consultation with your treating doctor. It inhances the gastric emptying time and reduces the symptoms.

Hope I have been helpfull.

So this is normal and nothing to worry about? It will subside?

we don't have a drug like that over here in Los Angeles. We have regular but I'm allergic to it
doctor
Answered by Dr. Deepika Patil (1 hour later)
Brief Answer:
try domperidone then

Detailed Answer:
Hi,

This is not exactly normal, its the most common complications of the surgery. Its so common that people have started calling it a normal thing to get after surgery.

And when it will subside, that no one can tell. It varies from person to person. But it takes time.

And you may try domperidone tablets for its antiemetic and gastrokinetic actions. Its a different class of drug and I hope that you may not be allergic to it and would be available at your place.

Hope I have been helpful .

What is dompidone and where do I get this from?So I will get better and not stay this way forever. Im so miserable
doctor
Answered by Dr. Deepika Patil (20 minutes later)
Brief Answer:
its antiemetic and gastrokinetic

Detailed Answer:
Hi,

Domperidone is antiemetic (prevents nausea and vomiting) and gastrokinetic (enhances gastric emptying). Thus will help in relieving your symptoms.

It should be available at your chemist. But you need to find out that is it available without prescription or not.

Its different class of drug from the one you are allergic to, so it might be safe for you. But still be cautious.

I guess its trial and error with what you eat. I tried to boil some eggs on a toast made me feel really sick. Can you tell me which foods to avoid
doctor
Answered by Dr. Deepika Patil (4 hours later)
Brief Answer:
yes its trial and error only

Detailed Answer:
Hi,

Dietary advice in this case is individualized. You have to try and learn. In general, beverages including coffee, tea and other aerated drinks should be restricted.

Eat in smaller quantities in the start till your stomach adapts.
