Brief Answer:
Cardiac function, GI, TIA

Detailed Answer:
Hello and Welcome

I appreciate your concern

The description you gave can point towards a cardiac, neurological or gastrointestinal cause for the symptoms. However, a cardiac cause or complication should be ruled out primarily. A new EKG, ETT and echocardiogram should be done to assess for cardiac function. If normal then the atenolol can be continued for the tachycardia. Blood pressure readings or ambulatory B.P monitor for 24 hours may also be offered to look for adequate control. If the B.P is not controlled then medication should be adjusted accordingly. On the other hand if the B.P is too low or the atenolol is causing too low a heart rate then the dose should be lowered accordingly. If the cardiac workup is normal then GERD/ Dyspepsia should be empirically treated with PPIs and pro kinetics. A TIA Transient ischemic attack can also present with similar waves of sensations. Lipid profile, Blood sugar, Complete blood counts, CRP, Brain imaging (CT or MRI ) Carotid and axillary vessels Doppler ultrasound can be advised if your doctor suspects a TIA.

Wishing you best of health
