Question : I have been on 6 mg diluded and 200 fantanyl patches .. The doctor stopped them both and replaced them with methadone 5 mg . I have been suffering of nausea and vomiting since i started the new prescription .. The effect of methdone doesn't last more than 3 hours is the prescribed amount eniugh to replace the previous dose?..

Thanks for your query.

Methadone 5mg do not equate with combined effect of Dilaudid Hydromorphone 6mg and Fentanyl patches. The dose may be less effective in controlling the pain.

Nausea and vomiting are starting side effects of methadone, these will surely wane off after few days of dosage.
