Brief Answer:
Possible increased intracranial pressure, thyroid function and anemia.

Detailed Answer:
Hello and thanks for using HCM.

I have read your question and understand your concerns.

Symptoms you describe are consistent with a condition known as idiopathic increased intracranial pressure.

Other less probable causes of your symptoms may be low thyroid gland function, anemia.

It is necessary to discuss with your primary care Doctor who can order tests needed in order to achieve a correct diagnosis of your condition.

These tests, besides brain MRI, include blood tests to evaluate anemia, thyroid gland function.

It is also necessary for examination of the eyes (funduscopic examination) to evaluate increased intracranial pressure.

Treatment depends on the diagnosis.

Hope you found the answer helpful.

Let me know if I can assist you further.

Take care.

Thank you for your reply. I did leave out irregular menstrual periods and unexplainable weight loss. But after researching I'm satisfied with your suggestion. Would this also cause lactation without elevated hormone levels, weightloss and irregular menses? My thyroid levels have been tested are remain normal. I have also been tested for anemia - negative as well.

Brief Answer:
In rare cases is possible.

Detailed Answer:
Welcome back.

It is possible that idiopathic increased intracranial pressure may cause lactation and irregular periods by disrupting normal pituitary gland function intermittently, but could be a rare symptom.

Other causes of lactation however exists such certain drugs use, low thyroid gland function (yours resulted normal), birth control pills, kidneys disease etc.

Hope this helps.

Regards.

And the weight loss? I'm down another two pounds. That's 8 pounds in 3 weeks. Is there anything I can do for pain management? Nothing I've tried touches this headache and I'm at wits end. I can hardly hold my head up right.

Brief Answer:
A correct diagnosis is needed first.

Detailed Answer:
Welcome back.

About the weight loss, it is necessary to review the diet and calories amount.

If normal diet and calories, then hormones imbalance (adrenal gland function) should be assessed further.

About headaches, if increased intracranial pressure, initially drugs that lower it such acetazolamide should be used.

There is need to discuss with your primary care Doctor about these issues.

Hope this helps.

Take care.
