What Causes Nausea, Hot Flashes And Lightheadedness After Taking Methylprednisolone Injection?

default
Posted on Fri, 2 Dec 2016
Question: Hi-I'm 56, 6 1 235 pounds. I received a one time 125mg injection of methylprednisolone into right arm muscle yesterday to reduce inflammation from a severe pseudo-gout attack in my right elbow. The swelling went down praise God, but I'm experiencing mild nausea, a feeling of flushed cheeks, and have occasional bouts of mild light-headedness. (kind of the feeling you get from low blood sugar) No vomiting, but I've had some diarrhea and trouble sleeping. I am taking a low dose of colcry twice per day. Any idea of when these side effects will wear off? They don't seem serious but they're slightly disconcerting.

Hi,
I am Dr Mittal.
I have read your message.

The symptoms of the query are quite suggestive of a possible side effects of the injection.
I think it would be better to start with tab pantocid dsr once a day.
The side effects should not last beyond 5 days. Usually improvement occurs within 3 days.
So you may take the medicine for the duration.
Pleaseinform me if you are taking any other medicine besides colcry.
I have tried to make it as simple as possible. I hope that the information contained in this message will be able to help you find the best solution for your problem. Best of luck. Dr Mittal
