What Causes Nausea, Swelling In Legs And Fatigue In Someone With High BP?

default
Posted on Sat, 4 Oct 2014
Question: I just went on Losartan-HCTZ 50-12.5 MG for high blood pressure. I was taking Lisintropol and amlopidne (sp) for high blood pressure (I also take pravastatin for cholesterol). I quit the lisintropol and amlopodyne now - they were making me cough so much and my ankles were so very swollen. I still take pravastatin and now this new drug. I feel so nausea, tired, weak, which I sure don't like. What is my best method to do on?

Brief Answer:
May be side effect of drugs.

Detailed Answer:
Hi,XXXX
Thanks for asking HCM. I am Dr Rakesh Sharma answering your question.
You have done a right thing by changing you drugs as there was side effects of both of them manifesting on you.
Hydrochlorothiazide is known to cause nausea., and also fatigue, as it causes low potassium level.
The simplest way to go about it is take potassium supplement in citrus fruits.
Another suggestion is you can see your doctor and inquire for supplement,or if possible stop if you are maintaining your blood pressure or change the drug.
Do ask if you have any doubts.
Good day.
