Question: Hello Doctor,

I slept on the floor at an airport and the ground was cold. I got up and then started shivering I drank some tea and felt better. After I felt nauseous and wanted to vomit but didn't I then ate and drank some water and now my chest hurts and my head has a heartbeat sensation in the back. Can it be the after affects on the plane ride I had heartburn and wanted to vomit. I have a history of anxiety and I think I have upset stomach and acid reflux what can it be I am boarding my next connecting flight in one hour thanks

Brief Answer:
Seems to be combination of cold temperature exposure, anxiety, reflux

Detailed Answer:
Hello,

Welcome to Health Care Magic.
My name is Dr Muhammad Ahmad & I will look into your problem.

I have gone through your query and would try to help you in the best possible way.

My opinion:
After reading your description in detail, I am quite sure that this is not a big issue. You slept on cold floor which lowered your body temperature and when you got up you started to shiver, fear of having some big issue while being in a journey plus shivery caused you to get anxious and now you are getting head ache and heart burn.
Heart burn can be caused by two things:
1- Anxiety, fear
2- Tea you took.

The journey you just had added to the effect, many people are known to feel different in a bad way after plane journeys and if you already have GIT upset and anxious about having any problem in your journey, it makes things more difficult to coup up with.

Suggestions:
1- Don't be anxious. I assure you that things seem fine to me.
2- Take some antacid if you can have or is available.
3- Take some medication for head ache, I would suggest tylenol to my patients.
4- Don't eat spicy and don't drink coffee or fizzy drink through your way, your stomach upset is causing nausea.
5- Try to have a nap in your next flight or if you don't want it atleast try to feel relaxed.
6- If nausea doesn't settle use some anti emetic or ask flight crew to provide some anti vomiting drug it will help.
7- Just relax and don't worry. It seems to be just anxiety and stomach upset nothing else .

Hope I have answered your query. If you have any further questions I will be happy to help if not then don't forget to close the discussion and rate it.
Wishing you good health !!
