Question : I have been in treatment for UC since last March. I am not having any colitis, but I am just nauseated almost all of the time. I take a 6 MP and Remicade. It really bothers me to eat or drink anything. I also have horrible tasting saliva.. very bitter. Any thoughts ? My family has a history of having to have stomach surgery to keep the stomach from being moved around by the diaphragm.
Brief Answer:
The medicines seem to be responsible for the bad taste
Detailed Answer:
Hello,
Let me inform you that both Remicade and 6-MP (Mercaptopurine) are well-known to give rise to a metallic taste or bad taste in the mouth.
So, that is what seems to be responsible for the horrible and bitter tasting saliva.
The surgery of the stomach is apparently to take care of gastroesophageal reflux or hiatus hernia. That does not seem to be the case here.
Hope I have answered your query.
Take care
