What Causes Nightmares After Abrupt Stopping Of Wellbutrin And Pristiq?

default
Posted on Wed, 14 May 2014
Question: Yes, I was told to stop my Wellbutrin and pristiq cold XXXXXXX and start on 40 mg of viibryd.. I have been taking the 40 mg viibryd for almost 2 weeks. I have had some really scary dreams the last few nights.. Mine actually happen right as I am falling a sleep. I got on line looking for some support hoping to hear that I am not crazy and that other people struggle when changing anti depressants. I live alone and have been feeling a little freight full at times. Is this ok and are their other people out there that can relate?

Brief Answer:
Well prestique should not have been stopped so

Detailed Answer:
Hello,
Thanks for choosing health care magic for posting your query.
I have gone through your question in detail and I can understand what you are going through.
I personally feel that prestique should not have been stopped so abruptly. I do stop welbutrin abruptly with some of my patients but pristiq should be stopped gradually. I am quite certain that it is the abrupt stoppage of prestiq that is leading to this problem.
But the good part is that the problem is self limiting and the symptoms will get get better in next 1-2 weeks. further the symptoms will not increase from here but it will only be a down hill course form here.
You may take some benzodiazepines like clonazepam or lorazepam to reduce the dreams if it is severe. i have prescribed clonazepam 0.5mg to some of my patients having such a problem and they have reported improvement in the symptoms.
All said, you are not the only one having this problem and many people have similar problems on withdrawal from prestique especially if it is an abrupt withdrawal.
Hope I am able to answer your concerns.
If you have any further query, I would be glad to help you.
