What Causes Nose Bleed And Metallic Taste In Throat?

default
Posted on Sat, 15 Nov 2014
Question: Hi, I'm a 39 y/o male, 2 days ago I had a significant nosebleed after blowing my nose; I have not had a nosebleed since my 20s. Tonight, I was lying down and noticed a very heavy metallic taste in the back of my throat and had the sensation of sinus drainage. When I sat up, I had another significant nosebleed and onset of discomfort/mild pain on the top, left side of my head when I swallow. I also noticed my left eye is very bloodshot. Should I be concerned?

Brief Answer:
May be due to Nasal prick trauma

Detailed Answer:
Hi Sir,
I have gone through your query and age; it suggests that you may be suffering from the nasal prick trauma.

For your kind information the most common causes of nosebleeds are drying of the nasal membranes and nasal pricking trauma, which can be prevented by proper lubrication of the nasal passages by the liquid paraffin and avoid nasal pricking .

After this if the condition persists then goes for the X ray PNS, Bleeding profile, Blood pressure measurement and nasal examination to rule out other disease and to reach the near diagnosis.

Thanks
