What Causes Numbness And Burning Sensation In Rectum Radiating To Back?

default
Posted on Thu, 9 Jul 2015
Question: I've been suffering from constipation due to some pain killers I took for an extended period. I also have piriformis syndrome and spinal stenosis. My question is, if my rear is numb, burning, and very painful, what is most likely the cause? It feels like it radiates from my rectum. I am in serious pain.

Brief Answer:
Most likely due to spinal stenosis

Detailed Answer:
Hello

My name is Dr Muhammad Ali Rauf & i will look into your problem.

I have gone through your query and would try to help you in the best possible way. In spinal stenosis there is nerve compression. Now pain/ burning sensation occurs on the area which is supplied by that particular nerve. Pain will persist till the time decompression does not occur. I would suggest you to visit hospital and get an MRI Spine done. It will confirm the exact site of compression. Take it to a neurosurgeon who will then examine you and correlate the labs. Further management will depend upon the results & examination. Meanwhile you can take naproxen thrice a day for pain.

Hope I have answered your query. If you have any further questions I will be happy to help if not then don't forget to close the discussion and rate it.
Wishing you good health !!
