Question : Hi I had a fall of my horse and I have a large swelling in impact fall below the knee to ankle it's also numb should I be concerned thanks XXXX

Hi and welcome.
This is very probably cause by muscle contusion and this is not serious injury. However, numbness is. It good sign and may indicate accumulation of hematoma inside the muscle and it may cause nerve compression. In severe cases it may cause vessel compression and then it would be emergency. If there is no leg coldness or paleness then vessels are not compromised,but it would be good to do ultrasound to rule out things that I 've mentioned above. Till that,keep leg elevated,apply cold compresses and rest. Wish you good health. Regards
