Question : I have numbness and tingling in the mouth for many months now and I'm not sure what is causing this. But, I have been diagnosed with anxiety and depression.
Brief Answer:
Anxiety most probable cause
Detailed Answer:
I read your question carefully and I understand your concern.
Isolated mouth tingling and numbness is not typical for neurological conditions which are usually associated with other signs, especially since it has already been months. So I do believe as your psychiatrist says that the issue is probably related to anxiety.
I still think some simple blood tests are recommended (blood count, thyroid function, electrolytes, vitamin B12) as at times metabolic alterations can be associated with abnormal sensations.
Also a visit from a ENT (ear-nose-throat) doctor is advised as well to look for local processes such as infections.
I remain at your disposal for further questions.
