What Causes Numbness At The Top Of Left Eyebrow?

default
Posted on Thu, 9 Jun 2016
Question: I suffer from severe allergies both seasonal and non seasonal. Today my left eyebrow to the top of my head is numb. Can this be a result from the allergies? I have experienced lightheadedness in the past but not numbness.

Detailed Answer:
I read your question carefully and I understand your concern.

Your perplexity is justified, allergies in themselves do not cause that type of numbness you describe. One indirect way they may influence it though, may be by predisposing to sinusitis, frontal sinusitis on that side might justify that sensation.

Another possible explanation might be damage to the Supraorbital nerve, the nerve supplying that area. Damage may be due to direct trauma, at times may be a trivial hit which is not remembered. In this case should improve gradually by itself.

Anyway whether there is such supraorbital nerve damage or not, usually that type of numbness in the distribution you describe, is not an indicator of any more serious stuff like a brain lesion.
