Question : I am a 47 year old XXXXXXX XXXXXXX female weighing over 160 lbs. I just took my BP & it is 129/86 76bpm. I am currently on metoprolol tartrate and isosorbide mononitrate. My question is should I be concerned because my right arm feels funny and a few moments ago I had slight weakening in my right leg or am I being over dramatic? Tomorrow I am scheduled for a cardiac catheterization should I be concerned now?

I understand your concern and would explain that your symptoms seem to be related to a transitory ischemic attack.

Are you taking any antiplatelet agents (aspirin) or anticoagulants (warfarin, etc.)?

I recommend going to the ER for a careful physical examination, a resting ECG a brain CT scan or MRI scan and some blood lab tests :

- complete blood count
- PCR, sedimentation rate
- fasting glucose
- blood electrolytes
- kidney and liver function tests
- coagulation tests, INR.

Further tests ( Doppler ultrasound of the cervical arteries, 24- 48 hours ECG monitoring, etc) may be needed.
