Question : my husband's right arm was numb when he woke up and now his thumb and 2 finger are numb. he can move his arm ok. whats going on ?
Brief Answer:
Could be carpal Tunnel syndrome.
Detailed Answer:
Hi I am Dr Gopal Goel Orthopedic Surgeon.
In my opinion this kind of numbness occurs when there in pressure on one of the nerves in the wrist Called Median Nerve. This disease is called Carpal Tunnel syndrome. Normally it occurs over a period of time.
At present I would suggest pain killers, muscle relaxants , hot fomentation of wrist for few days and nerve conduction velocity Test to see the pressure. If there is no improvement and the test is positive then surgery may be required.
Thanx for the question. Please feel free to ask any other question.
