                                    Brief Answer:
Nerve conduction studies/Strict Diabetes control
Detailed Answer:
Hi Rmrurchie,
Thanks for being in follow-up and providing further details.
Considering the background history of Diabetes, I would suggest you to get 'Nerve conduction studies' done to rule out neuropathy.Although, numbness in just upper quadrant of abdomen with no symptoms in extremities is unusual for neuropathy, still,Diabetes is one disorder in which neuropathy can manifest in atypical ways.
Further, proper control of Diabetes is vital to retard the progression of neuropathy. How has been your control over the last few months? What is the HbA1c value?
Meanwhile, you can start the trial of antineuralgic medicines like pregabalin or gabapentin along with methylcobalamin. It will hopefully bring improvement.
Hope that helps. If you have some further questions,I shall be glad to have you in follow-up else please close the thread, rate it and write a review.
