may be an underlying crack fracture or an infection
Detailed Answer:
Hi XXXXXXX
Thank you for posting the question.
I have gone through your medical history in detail.
From the symptoms, there seem to be 2 possibilities.
Either an underlying hairline crack fracture of the toe might have gone unnoticed (might happen if the Xrays are not properly taken) or there may be a soft tissue infection in the underlying soft tissues.
A fracture,if it was present, should heal up by 6 weeks after the trauma.
Infection needs to be tackeld by taking antibiotics along with other anti-inflammatory tablets.
Is the painful part warm?
Is it tender to touch?
Do you experience on/off fever?
I would be in a better position to help you if you could post the Xray and a photograph of the big toe.
I hope the answer was useful.
Feel free to ask me any follow up queries that you may have.
Thank you.
Kind regards.
