What Causes Occasional Shortness Of Breath In A Diabetic Patient?

Question: Shortness of breath very occasionally . No chest pain or tightness. Blood pressure 150/81. Within half hour
Blood pressure dropped to 127/71. Is a type 2 diabetic. Had breathing checked two years ago, and all was fine
Has regular physical checkups, with no issues except diabetic. Colesterol levels are good except because of diabetes they wanted it lower. Took statins , but had extremely negative reactions. Does not take any drugs except metformin ( 2 a day) and Fluoxitine (1 a day). She takes no drugs for colesterol. Why the occasional shortness of breath?

The shortness of breath in diabetic patients may be an equivalent of chest pain angina and ischemic heart disease is the first diagnosis to be excluded in this case.

If he was my patient I would recommend to do the following examinations to exclude cardiac problems:
- Blood work
- Ecg
- Cardiac echo
- Stress test

Only if the above mentioned exams are normal or negative than her symptoms are related to pulmonary issues.
