What Causes Orange Tinged Stool?

Question: Hi....I have had a strange orange tinged stool for about a week. It goes from very soft to just fragmented pellets with some liquid too....maybe 3-5x per day. I try to eat gluten free and am on some turmeric supplement. I have had c diff before but my stool was dark and hard. I also take a probiotic supplement. It is a big strange!
Brief Answer:
Parasitic infection
Detailed Answer:
Hello
Thanks for the query
The most common reason for orange coloured stool is when you either eat of lot of orange coloured food items like carrots or orange coloured drinks.
Preserved food that is food with preservatives can cause orange stools.
Parasitic infection of the intestine can also cause orange stools.
Here is how you should go about it
1. eat natural and health food for the next 3 days. Avoid salads
2. If the stool is still orange then I recommend you give your stool for routine testing
3. Tab albendazole can be taken as a single tablet to get rid of parasites
I hope I was of help, if you have any further queries please get back to me
Regards

ok Thanks....The stool us less orange today but very gassy still and some jelly or mucous around it. Could it be colitis or IBS? How should I treat it, whatever it is....Thanks!
Brief Answer:
Infection
Detailed Answer:
Hello
Jelly and mucous filled stools almost always represent infection. I recommend a round of antibiotics. I usually give a combination drug like ciprofloxacin with tinidazole for 5 days.
I also recommend you to take probiotics like tab sporolac 2 tablets, 3 times a day for a week to replenish your intestines with good bacteria
Regards
